Must not wear stripes...

Since my stripe challenge I have realised that I rarely wear anything but stripes and they are a bit of a clothing addiction, I seem to be drawn to them. I have found myself wearing them all the time without even consciously meaning to.

I decided that today I would not reply on stripes and try to wear some of my other things (those that fit!) I think half the problem is that they go so well and easily with jeans and legging and are so easy to throw on when you are rushing out the door to baby group with two (or even one I imagine!) babies. Anyway, I recently ordered a new Boden skirt, basically seduced by the ridiculous price of £19! I knew I had to try it and went for the bright tomato red. I wore it today and although when I put it on it was a little tight I decided to go for it. I then realised that I have nothing to wear with it and need some new tops, jumpers and cardigans!

I originally went for this thinking it would create a 60's Parisian type look...

The cardigan was, with hindsight, a poor purchase as I don't really like it! It was only £14 from Tesco but still, I feel like it was a waste of money.

As you can see the skirt is a bit tight!!

I was in a bit of a rush as we wanted to go and see Nanny and Grandad back from their holidays but changed into this cardigan...

This is a simple black Gap cardigan that I have had for ages. I popped on my chunky Primark pearl necklace and leopard print pumps and we were out the door!

To make up for deserting me for just over a week they had kindly brought presents back and I got this cute Orla Keily scarf from Uniqlo and this pretty necklace from Banana Republic. I put them both on and they went fab with my outfit, the scarf really lifted it and gave it some colour. I do have to say though that the whole outfit was not very practical for being up and down all day with the twins and one of them was sick on the skirt! Oh well, nothing a baby wipe didn't fix! I was glad to get home and into my lounge suit ha, ha!

I'm off to compile my list of 'things I need' so far, new trainers, the red skirt in green and some cords, oh and new tops...

The challenge continues...

Firstly an apology to my blog fans (ha,ha) as I have been without a computer and therefore unable to update my blog and the final 3 days of the striped challenge. I'm happy to say the computer is back and the blog can go on!

So, when I last blogged I had 4 days of stripes under my belt. I would say that I started to struggle but only really for a different way to wear my stripes, don't worry, there were plenty to wear but not all made outfits. Anyway, here are the final days...

Day 5...

This is another Gap sale number which is really a summer sun dress and I thought would work with leggings. After seeing the photo back I realise that it is too thin for
this and I'm not really that happy with this outfit. The dress itself is great and was a great price too at £14.99 but I think I will save it now for next summer. The cardi is also from Gap now I think about it although I can't recall how much it was, it is a nice wool one and was from the outlet shop.

Necklace and belt have featured on here over and over again! They are from Primark and M&S and I could not live without either of them! Same Boden leggings as always...!

Day 6...

Today was Saturday and as hubby was on a late shift I took advantage and went swimming. This required something easy and comfy so I pulled out my 'lounge suit' (I didnt name it!) that I got last year in New York from Uniqlo and I love it! Ok, the knees are all baggy now and I imagine there is baby sick down it but it is just about ok to pop to Tesco in. Or swimming in this case. I am aware that I look a state and as I said to my friend who visited and saw me in this 'don't judge!' and anyway, IT'S STRIPED!

Day 7...

The final day arrived! I have to confess that I started in this outfit...

A Whistles orange striped tunic which was in the sale for £50 but then decided to change into this outfit which are items previously worn but not together. The NW3 t-shirt and the Gap denim skirt.

We popped to the shops and I ended up getting the twins a new cardigan each from H&M and you guessed it, they were both striped! I hadn't even realised until now.

Since completing the stripe challenge I know that I have an obsession as I have also worn stripes on at least 2 other occasions this week! Now that is done I am looking for a new challenge, I am thinking print and pattern next, let me know what you think?

Seven days of stripes...

I have realised that I seem to have a slight obsession with wearing stripes! Over the past few days all of my outfits seem to involve them and my wardrobe is full of them. I had been pondering a blog 'challenge' and contemplated the '30 for 30' bloggers challenge but as I don't really have much to dress up for and seem to live in my leggings as I spend most of my time either sat on the floor or bending and lifting the twins it is not all the practical at the moment.

I decided on wearing stripes for 7 days trying to mix and match some of my outfits into stripey combinations! Please bare in mind that I still cannot fit into my 'pre twin' clothes although am steadily getting there!

Here are days One, two, three and four...

Day One...

A grey dress on sale in Gap a few weeks ago at the excellent price of £14.99, the most amazing Boden leggings and an NW3 at Hobbs orange striped t-shirt which I got a couple of years ago and seem to remember using a voucher to pay making it a bargain.

Day Two...

Here is a lovely new top that I got a few weeks ago in the Boden summer sale, it is actually a jumper which makes it nice going into the Autumn. My trousers are my old faithful Zara high waisted trousers which I have had to fix with some material tape on both knees from when I fell over in them, I cannot bare to get rid of them as they are my absolute favourite and refuse to throw them away! Pumps are from Primark but have gone in the bin as they are now too big, I got them when my feet were still swollen!

Day three...

Today was baby group so I went for something that I could sit on the floor in, leggings, just for a change! I was pleased to find that my denim skirt now fits again, this was a sale bargain from Gap many years ago. I wore it with a Boden grey and cream t-shirt and a J Crew hooded top that I got for an amazing $19.99 whilst on Honeymoon a couple of years ago, I practically live in it!

Day four...

Today was a rushed job and so I threw on my old faithful Boden tunic that I have worn and worn with some leggings of course! I do feel slightly worried that I am running out of striped options now and still have 3 days to go!

Come back to see how I get on...

Bicester Bargains

Last Sunday we took a little trip to the fabulous outlet Bicester Village. It had been a while since I had last been and was looking forward to seeing what bargains were in store for me! As it turned out it was pouring with rain all day and as we had the twins with us it wasn't ideal.

First stop of the day was the Ralph Lauren shop as we had a secret discount with us and were all keen to get some goodies! Us girls disappeared upstairs and left the boys to look after the twins. The shop was crazy busy but I did manage to pick up these few lovelies...

This fabulous trench. I have been after a nice trench for a while and snapped this one up at the last minute. Luckily hubby seemed in a great mood and he didn't have to say 'have what you want' twice!

I also found this cute cardigan which is a fern green colour and will go with plenty of my things for the winter. I had been after a denim shirt and was pleased to find this one, it is a lovely dark denim and looks quite smart. Finally, I picked up this pretty little top, it has a lovely pattern over it. All in all I was really pleased with my finds and even more pleased with the discount. Thank you to the provider, you know who you are!!

Busy Bee

Huum, it seems having twins keeps you pretty busy, busy as a bee. That has certainly been the case for me recently. I tend to find in the morning once I have fed, dressed and sorted the twins out there is not much time for outfit related decisions. Combine that with most of my wardrobe not fitting and you don't have much content for a fashion related blog!

That said, I don't want to stop writing it so will endeavour to make more effort with both the blogs and the outfits. I do long for the days of making wardrobe choices...'what necklace goes with this, what dress looks nicer...' I'm sure they will return...one day! Until then I'll have to make do with the fun of dressing the twins, every cloud and all that!

I did pick up this dress for myself the other day from Gap. It was a bargain at £14.99 and perfect for all the recent hot weather we have had. I think it will work into the Autumn too with leggings and a t-shirt under.

I have been wearing this pretty necklace that I had for my birthday earlier in the year quite a lot. I think it is appropriate for me at the moment!

We had a trip to Bicester Village last week and I managed to pick up a few new bits there, I'll get them on here so you can see the lovely bargains!

Anyway, I can hear a twin crying, just hope they haven't got sick down their outfits ;-)
