Stripes and leather

I can't believe it is well over a month since I last posted on here, the year seems to be flying by! I have managed to take a few photos here and there, especially since I replaced my smashed mirror with a new one for my birthday.

The striped dress has fast become one of my favourites, it was a bargain at £12.99 from H&M and I have worn it quite a few times since it's purchase. I like how the length falls just under the knee. On this occasion I have teamed it with a cute Topshop preloved leather jacket, a Primark scarf and tesco flats.

Family and friends

Once again I seem to have been neglecting my blog lately and don't even seem to have put much effort into my outfits! The weather is very changeable as well which is annoying, warm and sunny one minute and freezing again the next. I'd turned the heating off in the week which was clearly wishful thinking and have it pumping back out again this evening.

The past week or so has been filled with family and friends which has been lovely as always. The weekend saw my Dads birthday and these rest days have meant spending time with my lovely twins and our friends. I am desperate to start wearing more spring clothing and ventured into some 'harem' pants which seem to be all over the high street again? I never went for the a couple of years ago but this time have bought 2 pairs from Next to try. The ones I wore the other day have a sort of animal print and I actually found I really liked them. They were easy to wear like leggings but more versatile and wearable. I teamed them with ballet pumps a jumper and leather jacket and felt comfortable for messing around with the twins but that they looked nice too. At less than £20 I would definitely recommend giving them a whirl.

My other outfits have included a White Stuff top with little people printed all over that I wore with a cardigans from H&M and Boden trousers and today I decided to mix up spots and stripes and wore a spotted Boden top that I picked up after Christmas in the sale for £14 and a striped cardigan from eBay.

A spring in my step

I don't know about you but I am totally fed up of winter and was thrilled to see, hopefully, the start of spring. The signs are starting to appear...lighter in the evenings, sunny enough to question whether washing can go on the line and my personal favourite, when you're on a night shift and realise it's 5am and starting to get light. This obviously means it is time to start thinking about my spring wardrobe. For me this can only really mean one thing, stripes. But to be fair it's the same for winter, autumn and summer too.

Yesterday I decided to spend a bit of cash! Daring I know! Well, as you probably know my circumstances are changing and I am having to be, and am actually enjoying being, careful with my cash. However, I have sold a few items of clothing and had let that build up a bit. I will try to remember to photograph what I purchased but needless to say the Grazia 25% discount in Whistles was put to good use. I also found what I hope to be the perfect jean in H&M but as I'm sure every girl will agree, there seem to be no such thing? I have in mind the perfect 'slim cut boyfriend mid wash slightly distressed works with ballet pumps, flip flops and heels doesn't go baggy but can wear with twins' pair but NEVER seem to find them! Time will tell but I am denim sceptical as always.

Anyways, here was my outfit of the day and not a stripe to be seen (that was yesterday, and probably tomorrow...) I wore my lovely preloved Topshop leather jacket, a beige Banana Republic jumper, a £2 Primark vest, I honestly cannot recommend their cotton tshirts and vest enough, they wash and wash and are great for the ridiculously cheap price, I digress...my Hobbs NW3 dark denim jeans, the oldest Tesco ballet pumps, a leopard print scarf my lovely friend Anna bought me and a bag from Next. I felt really comfy in this and I would say it is an outfit that pretty much sums up my style, minus the stripes and maybe some mucky twin hand prints?

Must remember my blog!

I admit that I have been terrible at remembering to take photos for my blog the past few days and in fact, I have had occasions where I have been out and worn outfits different to the norm and still forgotten to photograph them! I think it is because I am always getting ready in such a rush, time is a luxury I simply do not have! Even this evening I have been meaning to sit down and write my blog but for one reason or another the evening has flown by and it's gone 11pm already.

Last week, for example I went out with work and wore some leather shorts! I say leather, ahem 'pleather' is a better explanation of the fabric but hey, they were £10 from Matalan and it seems the jury is still out? Personally I liked them and maybe next time I'll remember to photograph them. I then wore a lovely peach dress with cats printed all over it for my sisters birthday and my current favourite, a pink lace Whistles beauty that I got from eBay. Must try harder!

Until then, I'll leave you with two photos. The first shows my recent fabulous sale buys. The green cardigan I have been after for ages after my all time favourite finally had it and was looking really tatty, I just had to let it go to the charity shop, sob sob. I found it at the Gap outlet at MacArthur Glen for the fabulous price of £7.99 with a further 30% off, bargain. Whilst there I also picked up this striped skirt, also 30% off making it just over £11, again, something I have been looking for for a while. And today this fabulous cashmere jumper arrived from Boden. It was in the sale at £23 reduced from £119! Now that readers, is a bargain! The only problem is now I've tried cashmere I may never go back...

The second photo is something you can help me on. I am absolutely in love with this citrus yellow that is everywhere for spring and loved this bag when is saw it. However, I kept going back to look at thing grey one too. They are similar in price and size and I only need one, but which one? Cast you votes please...

A bad day for the budget!

I have been doing really well since I set my new spending restrictions and even managed a whole day yesterday without spending a penny. In fact, I managed to make a bit of cash selling a few items of my clothing. For the past few months I have been selling (and buying) bits an pieces of mine clothes and things the twins have outgrown on some selling pages on Facebook. I have found that these are really friendly and much better than eBay. They are brilliant especially for the twins as they outgrow their clothes so fast, well, maybe not George! But I have sold some things and in return been able to buy them some 'preloved' bits. The ladies in these groups buy and sell 'nicer' brands of clothing on the whole and they are all practically, if not, new. Perfect for growing kids at play parks and soft play places where they will only get dirty anyway.

Today didn't seem to go so well however. I have been pondering over a lovely dress for Matilda for the past few days and after selling some yoga leggings on eBay for the same price of the dress and having some credit I decided to treat us both. So, I suppose, I've not really spent anything there? I have picked up a few items for some up coming birthdays and spent a tiny bit on some underwear (surely this is an essential?) and a much needed iPad case as there may have been a small incident yesterday where I could have done with one! Aah now I think about it there was a cardigan in Primark too, only £6 and I need it to go with the skirt I want to wear for my sisters 30th birthday...

I decided on easy today as I couldn't be bothered to think too much! I went for the Boden skinnies, a much, much loved green H&M cardigan which I really fear is coming to the end if it's life but I love it so much I can't bare for it to go! It is looking a little tatty though. Underneath I wore a lace top from New Look and a beaded necklace that I forget where it is from.
